Toyibat, by its name and meaning denotes purity and all things related to virtue. Alhaja Toyibat Yusuf Adeniji – the founder, was an epitome of stellar and enviable attributes. Her love for the propagation of pristine Islam cum excellent secular education birthed the establishment of the Nursery Arm of Toyibat Schools in 1979 with her first grandchildren. This elementary school later developed into a full-fledged Nursery and Primary Schools. The idea behind the establishment of the school by Alhaja Toyibat – a renowned educationist, philanthropist and a staunch Muslim, was to enlighten Muslim children who were being indoctrinated into Christian religion by the various Christian mission schools in the country. This unusually laudable move affords the Muslim community the opportunity to have a harmonious blend of academic excellence, moral uprightness and sound knowledge of the Deen. Toyibat Schools is the first Islamic Private School in Nigeria. It is a school for both male and female learners and it has facilities for both day and boarding students. The primary school was established in 1983 and it was situated at 50, Community Road, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos State. The huge success made by the school necessitated a more spacious and conducive learning environment. This achievement encouraged the Proprietress to move the school to its permanent site at Medina Estate, Gbagada. In 1991 Toyibat Secondary school was established and had Alhaji Lukman Chioma Nwokeyi as its maiden principal. The site has the Kindergarten, Nursery, Primary and Secondary Schools known today as Toyibat Group of Schools, Medina Estate, Gbagada, Lagos. The school is affliated to Al-Azhar Al-sharif Islamic Academy, Egypt to strengthen its Arabic and Islamic studies department. Over the years, the school has been successfully headed by conscientious and seasoned administrators who are passionate about Total Child Development. Among these administrators were expatriates and non- expatriates. At present, the Head of School is Mr. Ayandele Goke Tajudeen. He is a seasoned administrator and staunch Muslim who is also passionate about coherent blend of academic excellence, moral uprightness and religious consciousness. The trio (of top-notch secular education, moral decency and religious excellence) is a priority at Toyibat Group of Schools – a citadel of knowledge.
